What length of time should my session be?
There are different forms of massage therapy that can be customized by both style and length of time to achieve the best results.
15-30 minute massage: Can be great for a tight budget or a tight schedule. The goal within this time to focus on a very specific area of the body such as shoulders or back.
60 minute massage: Great for full body relaxation massages, being able to spend more time on a trouble spot, or being able to achieve a little bit of both.
90 minute massage: Provides a lot of time to really focus on trouble spots, give a complete full body massage, or to obtain both.
What form of Massage should I get?
Chair Massage: Can be effective for someone wanting focus on back, shoulders, and neck. People are able to remain fully clothed while sitting upright in a chair designed specifically for massage while having their head rest on a face pillow. The service is very affordable and great for people who may just want to relax while on a quick lunch break.
Swedish Relaxation: Works well for people who are stressed and want to unwind. Light to medium pressure is used with long gliding strokes to reduce muscle tension without using a lot of force.
Therapeutic Massage: Is designed for people who have a specific area of focus that needs to be addressed either from recent injury or chronic issues. Postural assessments are taken first which are assessments in which the therapist looks at how one stands and moves to in order to find very specific areas that are causing pain and limited range of motion. Various techniques are used such as trigger point therapy, myofascial release (a form of massage aimed at releasing connective tissue in the body that surrounds, muscles, nerves, bones, and organs of the body), deep tissue, stretching, range of motion techniques, etc.
Deep Tissue: Works well for people who have a lot of tension or who have a lot of scar tissue built up. This form of therapy is not good for people who have had a recent injury within 4 weeks. Medium pressure is used at first to help reduce muscle spasms but then deeper pressure is applied. The goal is to get at the deep layer of muscles that are not very tangible.
Special Add On Options:
Hot Stone Add On: Smooth heated stones are used by the therapist as a tool to apply deep penetrating heat into muscles that results in reduced muscle tension in less time.
What to expect after a Massage:
Muscle relief will most likely be felt after the treatment. Soreness can be expected the following day especially after a deep tissue massage. A lot of toxins can get released so it is important to drink plenty of water after a treatment and the following day. If any nausea occurs it means the body is struggling with the detox so increase the amount of water taken. If the nausea persists after 12 hours it is not related to a detox but more likely some form of illness,
